History

D.B. Boarding was established over 30 years ago by Devon Bayly, a young vet nurse who recognized the need for a dedicated cat boarding service. While many things have changed over the years, our commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and caring environment for cats remains strong.

Ethos

Our dedicated staff are passionate about providing the best possible care for your cat. We take the time to understand each cat’s personality and cater to their individual needs—whether they enjoy basking in the afternoon sun, receiving head butts and chin tickles, playing with dripping water, or simply keeping to themselves.

We offer spacious outdoor runs for fresh air and sunshine, as well as indoor accommodations for cats who prefer a cozy retreat. Our experienced staff closely monitor each boarder and quickly address any concerns, whether it’s a need for extra cuddles, a dietary adjustment, or a vet visit. Rest assured, your cat’s happiness and well-being are our top priorities.

Freedom to Roam

At D.B. Boarding, we believe cats should have the freedom to explore rather than being confined to cages. Once settled, most cats enjoy venturing outdoors or exploring the cattery’s nooks and crannies. However, if your cat prefers solitude, we are happy to accommodate their needs.

Special Requests: If your cat requires a quiet and private stay, please let us know in advance, and we will ensure their comfort.

Diet

To minimize disruptions, we recommend maintaining your cat’s regular diet. Please provide details on their dietary preferences on our Admission Form.

We offer a range of premium feline diets, including:

Hills Science Diet
Advance
Hills Prescription Diets
Royal Canin Veterinary Diets
A variety of Whiskas, Felix, and Fancy Feast for our more selective guests

For cats on prescription diets such as K/D or C/D, or for particularly picky eaters, we request owners provide their preferred food.

Medication and Special Needs

Our staff are able to care for and monitor cats with special needs such as those on hyperthyroid or high blood pressure medication or those with kidney or urinary tract issues. As the Veterinary clinic is located on the same premises as the cattery, any problems or emergencies can be seen to by the duty veterinarian instantaneously.

Please note that a medication surcharge on a sliding scale of $1.50-$3.00 per day is applicable. We are also happy to care for diabetic cats. Please phone or email for details.

Admission & Discharge Hours

Weekdays: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM & 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Sunday & Public Holidays: Closed

We are closed for admitting and discharging on all public holidays.

Vaccinations

All cats must have a current F3 or F4 vaccination (covering Feline Enteritis and Cat Flu), and proof of vaccination must be provided before admission. We also recommend up-to-date FIV (Feline AIDS) vaccination

Do cats get bored in a Cattery?

Cats are full of energy and are used to running around and lot’s of play. Most cats settle in really quickly and we always pay a lot of attention to ones that need a bit more love. We always encourage owners to bring some familiar toys from home to make the transition easier.

How much space does a cat need in a Cattery?

The biggest step is finding the right Cattery for your cat. Cats love space to move around, play and groom, which is why 100s of customers trust us. Call us today for more information.

How old does a cat have to be to go into a cattery?

We advise that your cat is at least 6 months old before spending time in our Box Hill cattery. However, as long as your cat has had all it’s vaccinations it should be okay.
