Vet

Dr Emma Mason graduated from the University of Queensland with a bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1996. Stepping straight into small animal practice she commenced working in Adelaide before moving to Melbourne. Initially working in a small animal clinic in Malvern she was yearning to learn more, so in 1999, she started a residency at Melbourne University Veterinary School. Here she instructed students whilst also studying for a Masters of Veterinary Studies and Memberships in Veterinary Medicine.

Emma moved back into private practice in 2001 and joined Elgar Road Vet in January 2008. Emma loves her life as a vet – the relationships with clients, the character and trust the animals bring and the challenges in solving all problems big and small.

She enjoys being a mum to two children and the hurdles of managing the juggle. Emma enjoys spending time away with family and friends, tending to the garden and reading.

Jerry

Jerry came to our family with his sister Lexi.  They were adoption kittens needing a home from the same litter.  As it would be, our neighbours were after a kitten at the same time and they took Lexi and we kept Jerry!  That was 11 years ago now,  so we get to see and keep in touch with Lexi all the time and vice versa.

Jerry is what I’d call the ‘golden child’ cat.  He doesn’t scratch the furniture (only the scratching posts), he doesn’t jump onto benches, he only eats food from his bowl and will never try to steal any ‘human’ food, he doesn’t chew plants and he puts up with being cuddled and picked up and continues to come back for more!

The one thing that Jerry does do though, is he loves to check out my shoes when I come home from work and then he will rub and roll over them as though he is checking out who I have seen at work today and he sends back messages through my shoes – some kind of kitty morse code I guess?
