Sarah
Vet Nurse
Sarah joined Elgar Road Vet in March 2013. She gained her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2008, and completed a Diploma in Feline Nursing in 2018. She has worked at emergency centres, referral hospitals and in feline-only practice. Sarah owns two beautiful cats – an elderly Bombay called Oscar and a beautiful Scottish Fold called Puffin, who was adopted from the RSPCA. She also has three alpacas – Liquorice, Macca and Cracker Jack! In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her husband and son, cooking, crochet and learning about all things feline! She likes to use her further knowledge in cats and cat behaviour to make the clinic as feline friendly as possible, and to try to make your pet’s visit a relaxed one.

Oscar & Puffin
Oscar belongs to one of our nurses Sarah. He is an elderly Bombay boy who had a rough start to life but has certainly landed on his feet. He is the constant companion of Sarah’s son Ari, and with his help, has gone from an ex-breeding cat who wasn’t too sure of people, to the most loving cat possible. He loves to be carried around (or air-dropped as Ari calls it), brushed, given a bath, receive all the pats and accept most meals while in bed! He is the most placid cat and loves to spend all his time with his people. He has chronic kidney disease and arthritis, which are common illnesses in older cats.
Puffin also belongs to Sarah. She was adopted in 2025 after Sarah’s ginger cat passed away from cancer, and her other cat Oscar was extremely lonely. Puffin had been at the RSPCA for about eight months, and was very shy and unsocialised. Sarah agreed to adopt her without having any interaction with her, as she was completely shut down at the shelter. Since being adopted, she has very gradually come out of her shell, and has become a very playful and smoochy lady, and absolutely loves her new best friend Oscar. All cats with folded ears develop a painful and debilitating condition that affects their bones and cartilage, so Sarah is constantly on the lookout for any signs of pain in Puffin, which can be quite subtle in cats. The breeding of these cats can be quite controversial, which is why Sarah chose to adopt Puffin from a shelter.
